National Atlas of Trade and Services | 2013
Description
The National Atlas of Trade and Services is a publication aimed at creating a public reference of economic information on the tertiary sector in Brazil, in order to guide public policies and private investments. One of the key requirements for the design of public policies by the government, and for the accomplishment of good business by the private sector is the presence of authentic official information that enables the evaluation of opportunities that are spread around the country. In this respect, it is a goal to display the structure and internal differences of economic activities performed in the Brazilian territory, indicating their patterns of spatial behavior. It is important to understand, in detail, the concentration of certain segments and the specialization of some regions by means of cartography and space distribution. The localization of occupations and of wealth generation will allow the visualization of territorial division in trade, services and logistic services sectors that exists in the Brazilian economy. Demographic and socioeconomic patterns are both important to explain the challenges of the tertiary sector, as well as the opportunities it offers. Therefore, the Atlas consists of a geographical reference of economic information on the tertiary sector in Brazil, as it details the spatial distribution knowledge of these activities at national level and highlights their importance today, as well as their relevance not only in relation to the insertion of Brazil in the world, but also in relation to the dimension and regional diversity of the Brazilian domestic market.
