In cooperation with the Government of the State of Ceará and supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and other partners, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) will carry out on June 11-13 the "Triple International Forum of Global South Governance - New indicators and strategic themes for the development and sustainability in the Digital Era", which will take place in Fortaleza, at the Ceará´s Event Center (999 Washington Soares Avenue).

South-South Cooperation session

On June 12, from 8 to 10 am, a session with representatives from the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) and Mercosur countries will take place, including Marcelo Bisogno (INE Uruguay), Gioconda Ocampo (INEC Ecuador), Noélia Massangaia (INE Mozambique) and Anália Silva (INE Angola). IBGE´s Andrea Diniz da Silva will moderate the session.

The South-South Cooperation, a technical cooperation among developing countries in the Global South, has been widely used by governments, civil society and international organizations to share knowledge, skills and success initiatives in several areas. Despite the undeniable benefits of this model of knowledge management, the lack of resources imposes limitations to the exchanges. With the advance of the information and communication technologies, new possibilities are arising. The session will explore the potential of the ICTs to leverage collaboration opportunities among Global South countries in the context of the digital transformation. The role of technology as a driver of the collaboration among countries that share similar challenges will be discussed.
