This publication releases information which lead to the understanding of the current tendencies of labor market, based on questions such as the technical and professional background of dwellers and the level of schooling of their parents.

It presents tables with data about persons at 20 years of age or over, according to their position in the occupation, sector of activity, level of satisfaction in the activity, use of new machinery and equipment in the production process and professional expectations of inactive persons, among other aspects.

The publication iincludes commentaries about the results presented, as well as the survey sampling plan and the definition of the characteristics investigated.

The data are obtained from the supplementary questionnaire of the Monthly Employment Survey of April 1996, encompassing the six biggest metropolitan areas and revealing significant changes in labor relationships which have occurred in the last few years.
