Watch live on Tuesday (05) the event "Geoinformation: connecting knowledge and transforming realities"

In commemoration of the Cartographer's Day, on May 06 - a date that pays tribute to the science that transforms complex special data into visulizations that allow the understanding, analysis and navigation in the territory - the Directorate of Geosceinces invites to a special technical presentation on geoinformation.

The event will take place at 2 pm on May 5, at Casa Brasil IBGE, in Rio de Janeiro, being streamed live on Digital BGE, integrating commemorative actions dedicated to the professionals who are daily engaged in the construction of maps and analyses that guide the development of Brazil. This occasion reinforces the historical importqance of cartography for the IBGE and for national planning, and highlights how the production of maps, geospatial bases and localizayion technologies have become essential for public policies, official statistics and innovation in Geosciences. 

The keynote speaker will be Kate Hess, Development Manager at ESRI - a leading company in the global software market of System of Geographic Information, localization intelligence  and mapping. Kate is a specialist in the support to National Statistics Institutes providing assistance in operation modernization and production of statistics by means of the ArcGIS platform. With a background in remote sensing and environmental sciences, she delivers workshops and technical presentations to teams in a number of governmental institutions all overt the world, being one of the main ESRI references in the segment of national government and official statistics.
