The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) will host, on April 27, 28 and 30, regional launch events of the 1st National Census of the Population Experiencing Homelessness, the first national statistical survey aimed exclusively at this segment of the population.
Developed by the IBGE in partnership with public institutions and social movements, the Census represents a landmark in the production of official data in Brazil, by adopting a unique methodology developed in partnership with civil society representatives. The idea is to strengthen the production and dissemination of socially-relevant statistical knowledge, thus reaffirming the Institute's commitment to the Brazilian society.
