During the Federative Caravan held in São Paulo, on March 19-20, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) provided 365 public assistances at its stand.
The space welcomed mayors, councilors, public managers, political leaders and civil society representatives interested in accessing information about their municipalities and areas of activity. Visitors were also able to learn, in practice, the IBGE´s main data dissemination tools through an interactive totem available on site.
Among the most frequent demands were queries on territorial data, population information and guidance on the use of the IBGE Automatic Retrieval System (Sidra).
On the first day of the event, 300 services were provided, ranging from more complex demands, such as managers interested in detailed analyses of their municipalities, to brief interactions, with institutional presentation and distribution of informative materials. On the second day, there were 65 registrations, consolidating the IBGE's participation with a total of 365 assistances throughout the program.
Caravan brings IBGE closer to municipal management
The superintendent of the IBGE in São Paulo, Francisco Garrido highlighted the positive balance of the Institute's participation in the 17th Federative Caravan. “Hundreds of assistances were made to public managers, presenting and clarifying the information that the IBGE has and helping to both improve and design public policies,” stated him.
The Federative Caravan brings together more than 30 ministries, authorities and federal offices, with the aim of expanding access to services, programs and information aimed at states and municipalities.
