From December 3 to 5, the conference held in Salvador will offer nine panels and thematic groups, with a record number of activities.

The conference will be held from December 3 to 5, in the city of Salvador (BA), at the facilities of SENAI Cimatec and SESI, located at Av. Orlando Gomes, 1845 – Piatã. Theme: A Proposed General Plan for Statistical and Geographic Information for Brazil's Development in the Digital Age for the period between 2026 and 2030.

New registration period

Due to the interest in dialogues about strategic technical topics for Bahia and for Brazil, the conference program was extpanded with the inclusion of new panel sessions and thematic groups. 

Institutions such as Sudene, PNUD, and others will make their own schedule of activities available during the event, which adds to the activities expected for all the days of the conference. 

The IBGE, now approaching the end of the promotion period, will conduct its most important conference, for the first time in Salvador. More than 60 authorities have confirmed attendance to the opening session. 

Organization + support

Organized by the IBGE, with support from the State Government of Bahia, the Federation of Industries of the State of Bahia (FIEB), of Senai Cimatec, o fthe United Nations Development Program (PNUD) and of the Union of Municipalities of Bahia (UPB), the National Conference of Data Producers and Users (CONFEST/CONFEGE) has the support of the Federal Data Processing Service (Serpro) and of bank Banco do Nordeste do Brasil S.A. (BNB).

The conference will have an international agenda

The conference will receive the Mercosur Specialized Meeting on Statistics (REES), which will be held in Salvador and is part of the official agenda of Mercosur of which Brazil currently holds the presidency. The event will gather chief statisticians from NSOs in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Also scheduled is the panel session Amazônia Biome, which will bring together representatives of statistical institutes in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela, besides Brazil.

There will be special activities promoted by the United Nations Development Program (PNUD).

Simultaneous interpretation will be available for international sessions.

Participants from Brazil and abroad 

With more than three thousand confirmed onsite participants, from Brazil and from abroad, the conference will have panel sessions, thematic groups and open workshops — mainly activities organized with the help of local partners, focusing on the discussion of strategic topics for the state of Bahia.

Who can participate?

The conference is open to all data producers and users, authorities, public and private managers, researchers,  scholars, students, professors and society in general.

Opening and closing sessions

The conference organizers are alerting participants who wish to attend the opening and closing ceremonies in person that registration is required.

Registration is necessary as soon as possible, due to the near-capacity of both venues.

For the first time in Bahia

For the first time, the most important IBGE conference — organized since 1968 — will be held outside of Rio de Janeiro, at a time when Brazil and the world are undergoing a shift in the foundations of innovation.

This return is part of a series of cross-cutting actions to reposition the IBGE as a protagonist in the governance of geosciences and statistics, as well as its interface with the challenges faced by the State and the private sector in the search for official past, present, and future-oriented information.
