Construction prices change 0.31% in July with deceleration in material and workforce

The National index of Civil Construction (SINAPI) changed 0.31% in July. The rate is 0.57 percentage points (p.p.) lower than the index registered in June (0.88%). The cumulative index in the last 12 months hit 5.25%, below the rate of 5.34% recorded in the immediately previous 12 months. The data were released today (12) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The national cost of construction per square meter, which was R$1,842.65 in June, changed to R$1,848.39 in July, being R$1,058.77 relative to material and R$789.62 to workforce.
The parcel of material changed 0.23%, a less intense rise than in the previous month (0.41%) and in July 2024 (0.30%).
"Despite some collective agreements signed in the period, the parcel of workforce changed 0.42%, less 1.10 percentage points when compared to June, and 0.11 less 0.11 percentage points in relation to July 2024," explains the manager of the survey, Augusto Oliveira.
From January to July, the cumulative indexes were 2.30% (material) and 4.50% (workforce). The cumulative figures in the last 12 months stood at 4.91% for material and at 5.76% for workforce.
The Northeast Region reports the highest monthly change in July
Influenced by the highs in the portion of professionals in Ceará and Alagoas, the Northeast got the highest regional change in July, 0.69%. The other Major Regions presented the following results: 0.24% (North Region), 0.11% (Southeast Region), 0.19% (South Region) and 0.20% (Central-West Region).
Alagoas records the highest rise in July
With a rise in the share of material and collective work agreements signed, Alagoas was the state that recorded the highest rate in July (3.02%). Followed by Ceará, under the same conditions (2.31%).
