The National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE) released on Monday (20), the new portal of the IBGE Online School celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Training and Development Division (CTA), which is formed by a multitask team of professionals responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of extension, education and training actions for IBGE employees and ENCE students and for society in general. Also, within the scope of the Government Schools network, the courses offered by the IBGE are also available to other civil servants.
According to Para Izabelle de Oliveira, coordinator of the Project, this new portal “opens doors to the online environments of ENCE: Ence Capacitação (Development) and Ence Cidadania (Citizenship). With a more modern interface and improved navigation, the portal expands access to the training activities promoted by ENCE. Ence Cidadania, aimed at society as a whole, starts its activities with courses in the areas of Statistics, Demography and Geosciences. The new structure of the portal also facilitates access to the courses directed to IBGE employees, by means of an integrated environment that is accessible and in line with good distance learning practices in public service.”
Launched in 2008, the IBGE Online School represented was the first step taken by ENCE/CTA to reach all IBGE employees from all over the country to provide them with Distance Learning courses. This launch is a measure towards a better learning environment focused on user’s experience. One of the implemented changes is the creation of an exclusive section for courses specially designed for the Brazilian society.
Three courses are being offered through the new portal, in its Citizenship environment (Cidadania), all of which are targeted at the external audience. National Statistical System (20 hours); Learning about IBGE statistical surveys (20 hours) and introduction to Social Indicators (20 hours). Other courses are expected to be launched soon, about SIDRA – IBGE System of Automatic Retrieval.
Last year, about 3200 persons finished ENCE courses, aimed at the external audience. Among IBGE employees, the number is above 30 thousand persons in the last 12 months. Izabelle emphasizes the relevance of these courses for recently hired professionals.
“The IBGE Virtual Shop plays a fundamental role for new IBGE employees, through a number of aspects such as knowledge about the activities, functions and history of the IBGE, besides its importance for the development of Brazil, the preparation of these professionals for the activities that they will have in the institutions and integration to the organizational culture, when employees will get familiar with the mission, view and values of the IBGE.”
The IBGE Online School has a group of courses aimed at new employees, which form the so-called New Employee Integration Program (PINS), where not only the aspects already mentioned are shared, but also internal IBGE standards and procedures, from administrative issues to topics of ethics, integrity and information security.
