IBGE makes available today, December 22, 2015, a group of 151 sheets presenting geospatial information on gelogy, geomorphology, soils and vegetation. This material forms a map which covers about 90% of the national territory, at a 1:250,000 scale (1cm=2.5 km). All these data are also available in shapefile format and can be accessed here.
This release marks a sequence to the Project Survey of Natural Resources, which is intended to produce and disseminate in Brazil environmental information on specific topics. With the completion of this phase, IBGE has now mapped about 90% of the national territory.
The Brazilian territory delimitation represented in this group of sheets classifies and describes the physical space as indicated in the series of IBGE’s Technical Geosciences Maps. This work generates imput for public policies and also provides material for other initiatives in the field of sustainable development.
The information is available in vector shapefile format, and can be viewed and edited by SIG softwares, which allow the combined analysis of themes, even including data from other institutions.
The files of millionth scale sheets can be found on the IBGE website and can be accessed free of charge on the link below:
The Technical Geosciences Manuals that support the elaboration of this work are also available on the website, and organized by specific area, as seen below:
