In Niterói, IBGE brings services closer to the population and public managers during Federative Caravan

On March 26 and 27, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) will bring its services and surveys closer to the population and public managers during the Federative Caravan, which now lands in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Besides having a stand, the Institute will conduct a workshop with topics such as the IBGEeduca Project and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The event will take place at Caminho Niemeyer, in Niterói, Metropolitan Area of Rio de Janeiro, and it will gather a number of public institutions in the same place.
During the Federative Caravan, the IBGE will assist attendees and make available the results of surveys that allow analyses by territory, by Federation Units and Municipalities. The initiative will explain the applicability of this information to public managers. The stand of the IBGE will have an information stand and distribution of kits and freebies.
On Thursday (26), at 10:30 am, at Icaraí Room/ Federative Caravan Tent, the IBGE will conduct workshop on two topics. The coordinator general of the SDG Indicators Project, Denise Kronemberger, will speak about “Indicators for the 2030 Agenda: how to measure the progress of sustainable development in territories?”; the manager for Education Affairs, Marcos Balster, will present “IBGEeduca: data from the IBGE for teaching and citizenship.”
According to the IBGE superintendent in Rio de Janeiro, José Francisco Teixeira Carvalho, interaction with local managers and the population is essential to reinforce the role of the Institute. “It is fundamental to participate in events that help society understand its reality, and show the work of the IBGE, a strategic institution. With a varied assortment of data and indicators, we contribute to decision making by managers for the elaboration of public policies that fulfill the population's needs.”
The Federative Caravan, held in different parts of the country, takes representatives of federal institutions to states and municipalities to facilitate dialogue and listen to the main demands of federal entities.
