IBGE opens branch of Casa Brasil in Recife, in partnership with Fundaj

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and the Joaquim Nabuco Foundation (Fundaj) will open, on March 24, 2026, at 3 pm, a new branch of Casa Brasil IBGE Fundaj – Recife. The facility will be located at the Gilberto Freyre Campus, in the Casa Forte neighborhood, and will be inaugurated by Márcio Pochmann, president of the IBGE and by Márcia Angela Aguiar,president of Fundaj.
The installation of this facility, strengthens the Casa Brasil network in the Northeast, expanding public access to statistical, geoscientific and databases produced by the Institute. The initiative also consolidates institutional cooperation with Fundaj, bringing both federal entities closer in cultural and scientific dissemination actions.
With interactive information stands, computers for information search, maps and a number of digital products, the branch will give direct access to the vast assortment of the IBGE. The platforms of the Institute gather about one trillion variables and 1.5 billion data, available for studies, academic production, formulation of public policies and educational activities. Casa Brasil's opening hours are: Monday to Friday, from 8 am to noon and from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Besides content from the IBGE, Casa Brasil Fundaj – Recife will house training courses, exhibits and educational activities, being integrated into the academic routine in the campus and expanding possibilities in knowledge dissemination about Brazil.
After this inauguration, Brazil will have seven branches of Casa Brasil IBGE. So far, there are three branches in the Northeast Region: one in Recife itself, at Sudene; one in Fortaleza (CE); and one in Salvador (BA). The others were located in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Juiz de Fora (MG) and Belém (PA). Created to promote the democratization of access to statistical and geoscientific information, the network reinforces the interchange between data production, academic research and society.
